Plain English
HNW (High Net Worth) is a classification typically defined as $1 million or more in liquid investable assets, excluding the primary residence. Some institutions use $5 million as the threshold. It is the marker for private banking access, dedicated wealth advisory, and specialized tax and estate services.
How it actually works
HNW thresholds matter because of access. Below $1M, you have retail products and retail-grade advisory. Above $1M, you qualify for private banking lines, tailored portfolios, and (typically) more sophisticated tax planning. Above $5M (very high net worth, VHNW), you start qualifying for institutional-grade products. Above $30M, you become ultra-high net worth (UHNW) and the family-office structure becomes economical.
What it means for you
For members at the HNW threshold, the relevant question is which advisory infrastructure to use. Private bank? Dedicated RIA? Multi-family office? The answer depends on the complexity of your situation, not just the dollar amount.
We teach HNW members how to coordinate crypto-specific strategies with traditional wealth-management infrastructure. The goal: integration, not fragmentation.
