Plain English

Polygon is a family of scaling networks anchored to Ethereum. Polygon PoS is the legacy sidechain (cheap, fast, but lighter security than L1). Polygon zkEVM is its ZK rollup. Polygon CDK is a toolkit for launching ZK chains. The native token is POL (migrated from MATIC).

How it actually works

Polygon PoS has been the workhorse for years — billions in volume, 1-cent fees, deep stablecoin liquidity. Polygon zkEVM is the next-gen flagship, settling proofs to Ethereum. POL is staked across the broader network for security and revenue share. AggLayer is Polygon’s cross-chain liquidity layer linking all Polygon-based chains.

What it means for you

Polygon dominates in consumer payments, RWA pilots (Franklin Templeton, Hamilton Lane), and enterprise crypto. For HNW positioning, Polygon’s strength is regulatory comfort and institutional adoption rather than DeFi yield. The migration from MATIC to POL also expanded staking rewards across the multichain ecosystem.
