Plain English
Floor price is the cheapest NFT currently listed for sale in a collection. It is the most-watched single number in NFT markets — a quick gauge of collection health and a benchmark for valuing individual pieces. A “floor sweep” is when a buyer purchases everything at the floor at once.
How it actually works
Floor is set by the lowest listing on any major marketplace. Blur, OpenSea, and Magic Eden aggregate listings; floor is the cheapest across all. Volume vs floor divergence (high volume, falling floor) usually signals distribution; low volume with rising floor often signals accumulation.
What it means for you
Floor is useful but misleading — top-rarity pieces in a collection trade at multiples of floor, and floor itself can be manipulated by wash trading. For HNW NFT positioning, weigh floor against trait depth, holder count, and trading volume rather than treating floor as the asset price.
