Plain English
Akash is a decentralized cloud-compute marketplace. Hosting providers list servers (CPUs, GPUs) for rent; tenants deploy containerized workloads at significantly lower cost than AWS. AKT is the native token, used for staking, governance, and as one of the payment options.
How it actually works
Akash is a Cosmos-based L1 with reverse-auction pricing — tenants post jobs, providers bid down. Workloads run in Docker containers; the chain handles payment escrow and dispute resolution. GPU compute (for AI workloads) became the dominant use case in 2024–25.
What it means for you
AKT is a credible decentralized-cloud play with real revenue. For HNW positioning, it sits in the same AI-infrastructure bucket as RNDR and similar tokens. Smaller, less liquid; deeper conviction or smaller allocation. Stake AKT for ~13–18% native yield (high inflation that decreases over time).
