Stargate is a cross-chain bridge protocol built on top of LayerZero. Lets users transfer USDC, USDT, ETH, and other assets across 30+ chains with native (not wrapped) tokens delivered. STG is the governance token.
How it actually works
Uses unified liquidity pools on each chain — when you bridge USDC from Ethereum to Arbitrum, you swap into the Ethereum pool and out of the Arbitrum pool. Bridging fees are 6 basis points; LPs earn fees plus STG emissions. Underpinned by LayerZero’s messaging layer for cross-chain coordination.
What it means for you
For HNW cross-chain transfers of stablecoins or ETH, Stargate is one of the most-trusted options. Higher security than most older bridges (lock-and-mint designs), faster than canonical L2 bridges (which have 7-day delays for optimistic rollups). Pair with Circle CCTP for native USDC where supported.
