Across is a cross-chain bridge specialized in fast, cheap transfers between Ethereum L1 and major L2s (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, zkSync, Linea). Uses a “intent-based” relayer model — professional relayers front the funds on the destination chain and get reimbursed from the source. ACX is the governance token.
How it actually works
Users deposit on source chain; relayer fronts the asset on destination within seconds; settlement to source happens over the next ~30 minutes via UMA Optimistic Oracle. Fees are typically 0.05–0.1% of transfer value. The protocol is one of the most-used L2-to-L1 fast-bridges.
