Plain English

Notional Finance offers fixed-rate, fixed-term lending and borrowing on Ethereum. Founded in 2020. NOTE is the governance token. Differentiator: fixed rates with defined maturity dates — closer to traditional fixed-income than the floating-rate model used by Aave/Compound.

How it actually works

fCash tokens represent claims on future cash flows; trading them creates fixed rates. Maturity dates are quarterly or longer. Borrowers lock in fixed interest cost for the term; lenders lock in fixed return. Less liquid than floating-rate markets but provides rate certainty important for treasury planning.

What it means for you

For HNW users wanting fixed-rate predictability — particularly for stablecoin reserves with known time horizons — Notional is one of few options. Pair with Pendle’s PT system for fixed-yield exposure across more assets. Lower TVL than major lending platforms means less depth on large positions.
