Plain English

A POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) is a small NFT badge that an event organizer hands out to attendees — claimable by scanning a QR code or entering a secret link. Over time, a wallet’s POAP collection becomes a verifiable history of where you have been and what you have shown up for.

How it actually works

POAPs are issued from a public registry contract on Gnosis Chain (low gas). Each event has a unique POAP ID; the organizer distributes claim links. The token is technically transferable but socially treated as non-transferable, since the value is reputational rather than speculative.

What it means for you

POAPs are the simplest, lowest-friction form of on-chain reputation. For communities and education programs, distributing event POAPs builds a verifiable attendance record that members carry across web3 identities. Useful for member retention tracking, alumni privileges, and lightweight credential-issuance.
