ARCIPEDIA · COIN · ORACLE

Plain English

Pyth Network is a price-feed oracle that aggregates data directly from professional market makers (Jane Street, Wintermute, Two Sigma, Cumberland) and major exchanges. PYTH is the governance token. Differentiator: data sourced from the source institutions rather than from scraped public APIs.

How it actually works

Publishers (60+ institutions) post prices to the network with proof-of-attribution. Aggregation uses weighted-median to produce a single price feed with confidence intervals. Pull-based design — consumers request prices on-demand rather than continuous push, lowering oracle costs for the consumer.

What it means for you

PYTH is the leading oracle competitor to Chainlink, particularly on Solana and Aptos where Chainlink is less embedded. For HNW positioning, holding both LINK and PYTH covers the oracle infrastructure space. PYTH governance includes voting on data publisher inclusion and revenue distribution.
