Sui is a proof-of-stake L1 launched in 2023, also by ex-Diem engineers. Uses an adapted Move language. SUI is the native token. Object-centric data model — every on-chain item is a distinct object — enables parallel execution and very fast confirmations.
How it actually works
Sui processes simple transfers in parallel without consensus rounds (the “fast path”), achieving sub-second finality. Complex transactions involving shared state route through Narwhal/Bullshark consensus. Wallets like Suiet, Phantom, and OKX provide native support.
What it means for you
Sui has gained significant DeFi traction in 2024–25, with strong ecosystem token launches and consumer apps. For HNW positioning, SUI is a higher-volatility growth bet relative to APT — similar tech base, different ecosystem direction. Native staking yields ~3–5% in 2026.
